Paphos at a glance

Paphos lies in the southwest of Cyprus. Its main sights fall into three groups: the Kato Pafos Archaeological Park with its mosaics, the Tombs of the Kings, and the old town with its market and workshops. The harbour castle is a fourth stop, and the buses below link them.

Admission prices and hours here are the ones published by the Cyprus tourism portal, as of October 2026. They can change, so check the posted prices at the gate.

Kato Pafos Archaeological Park

The park holds the mosaics of the Houses of Dionysos, Theseus, Aion and Orpheus. It also has the Odeon, the Agora and the Saranta Kolones. The mosaics show scenes from Greek myth on the floors of Roman villas, and the House of Theseus has the round mosaic shown in the photo above.

Admission is โ‚ฌ4.50 for adults. In October the winter hours apply, so the gate shuts at 17:00. A day card from the Department of Antiquities costs โ‚ฌ8.50, a three-day card โ‚ฌ17 and a seven-day card โ‚ฌ25. The park page lists these for the department's own museums and monuments, so do not assume they cover private museums.

Tombs of the Kings

The name is a convention. The rock-cut tombs date to the Hellenistic and Roman periods and belonged to high officials and aristocrats, not to kings. Entry is โ‚ฌ2.50 for adults, and groups of more than 10 get 20% off. Opening hours match the archaeological park.

Wheelchair access is partial, and the view from above is possible. Do not expect to reach every burial chamber. The coast beside the tombs is rocky, so wear shoes with grip.

Old town and harbour

The old town and the harbour are different parts of Paphos.

Old town

The old town has the town hall, a library, neoclassical buildings, the fruit market, craft workshops and restored Ottoman baths. Check the market hours locally.

Harbour and castle

Paphos Castle stands at the west end of the harbour. The regional tourism board lists the entry at โ‚ฌ2.50, with seasonal hours of 08:30 to 17:00 or 19:30.

Staying near the harbour

A hotel described as "in Paphos" is not necessarily within walking distance of the harbour. Look at the map, because the harbour, the castle and the mosaic park lie together while the old town is a separate visit. Our where to stay page compares the areas.

Getting around Paphos

Local buses run by OSYPA link the sights and the airport.

Town buses

Line 610 connects the harbour and the Municipal Market. Line 611 links the Tombs of the Kings bus station, the harbour and Geroskipou Beach. A single costs about โ‚ฌ2 and a day ticket โ‚ฌ6.50, and children up to 5 travel free.

From the airport

Line 612 runs from the airport to the Tombs of the Kings station and line 613 to Karavella. Line 612 does not run to the harbour. From Karavella, line 618 reaches the Tombs of the Kings station and line 645 goes to Polis. The operator keeps 612 and 613 unchanged on public holidays.

Other cities

Intercity lists Limassol to Paphos at โ‚ฌ5 single and โ‚ฌ9 return, and Nicosia to Paphos at โ‚ฌ8 and โ‚ฌ15, since April 2025. The Limassol guide covers the next stop along the coast.

By car

Traffic drives on the left. The tourism portal gives a motorway maximum of 100 km/h and a minimum of 65 km/h.

Beach and boat trips

Coral Bay in Pegeia is a sandy bay between limestone headlands. The tourism portal lists toilets, showers, parking, a bus stop nearby and lifeguards from April to October.

The Blue Lagoon boats on the Akamas coast leave from Latchi, not from Paphos. One operator describes a hotel shuttle from Paphos to Latchi: about 3 hours on the boat and about 6 hours in all with the transfer. Cruises are listed at โ‚ฌ25 per adult in 2026, and rough seas can cancel a departure. Read the Blue Lagoon guide before you book.

Paphos: frequently asked questions

How much does the Paphos Archaeological Park cost?

Adult admission is โ‚ฌ4.50, as published in October 2026. The Tombs of the Kings are charged separately at โ‚ฌ2.50.

What are the opening hours?

From 16 September to 15 April both sites are open daily from 08:30 to 17:00. From 16 April to 15 September they stay open until 19:30. They close on Christmas, New Year's Day and Orthodox Easter Sunday.

Are the Tombs of the Kings really royal tombs?

No. They were the graves of high officials and aristocrats from Hellenistic and Roman times. The name is just the one in common use.

Is there a bus from the airport to the harbour?

The station overview lists no direct line to the harbour. Line 612 goes to the Tombs of the Kings station and line 613 to Karavella. Check the current network map for the best change.

Yes, as a boat trip that leaves from Latchi. One operator offers a hotel shuttle from Paphos, which makes the whole trip about 6 hours.
