12 Best Beaches and Bays in Cyprus
The 12 beaches below are an editorial selection, not a ranking. Six are around Ayia Napa and Protaras in the southeast, two are in Larnaca, two in Limassol and two in the west. Each entry says what the beach has and what to know before you go.
Lifeguard months are the published season and do not guarantee a lifeguard on every day. Sunbed rates, parking fees and shower arrangements vary by beach, so ask on arrival. A beach with a parking area does not mean the parking is free.

Ayia Napa and Protaras (1 to 6)
The southeast has the most beaches within a short distance of each other.
1. Nissi Beach, Ayia Napa
The sand beach is 600 m long and has a small island just offshore. Sunbeds, parasols, toilets and parking are listed, and the beach hosts music and beach events. Lifeguards are published for April to October. It is a busy beach with hotels and cafรฉs nearby.
2. Fig Tree Bay, Protaras
A sand beach in the resort of Protaras with toilets, changing rooms, a car park and a special beach wheelchair. Lifeguards are published for April to October.
3. Konnos Bay
A sand bay between Cape Greco and Protaras. The way to the beach leads through a vegetated slope, and there is a car park. Lifeguards are published for April to October.
4. Makronisos
Sandy coves near Ayia Napa with toilets and parking. The south-western part lies in a Natura protected area, so treat the surroundings with care.
5. Landa Beach
A sand bay between Nissi Bay and Makronisos, reached by a coastal footpath. It has toilets, parking and a beach wheelchair at the lifeguard tower.
6. Vathia Gonia
A cove of sand and rock near Ayia Napa. A Seatrac entry aid is described, along with toilets and parking. Ask on site whether the aid works on the day you visit.
More about the resort and the headland is on the Ayia Napa and Cape Greco page. To choose a base near the sea, see where to stay.

Larnaca and Limassol (7 to 10)
7. Finikoudes, Larnaca
A sand beach along the palm promenade in the city centre. The water is described as shallow, and the beach has toilets and showers. Lifeguards are published for June to October only, not from April.
8. Mckenzie, Larnaca
A sand beach near the airport, with restaurants and water sports. Lifeguards are published for June to October, as at Finikoudes.
9. Dasoudi, Limassol
A beach next to a small wood with a footpath, in Germasogeia. The sea gets deep fairly quickly, so take care with children. It has toilets, showers, bus access and parking.
10. Miami Beach, Limassol
Dark sand next to Dasoudi, in Agios Athanasios. A breakwater protects it, but waves can still arrive in the afternoon. There are buses and parking.
The west: Coral Bay and Pissouri (11 and 12)
11. Coral Bay, Pegeia
A sand bay between limestone headlands in Paphos district. It has toilets, showers, a bus stop nearby and parking. Lifeguards are published for April to October.
12. Pissouri Bay
Sand and small pebbles, with toilets, showers and water sports. Public access paths are partly step-free. Do not confuse the beach with the village on the hill above it.
Two more places on the coast are worth knowing. Kourion Beach is a sand and shingle beach in Episkopi Bay with a marked swimming area, and it is a different place from the ancient site. Petra tou Romiou, the rock of Aphrodite, is a landmark with a legend, not a swimming recommendation. Follow warning signs and see the Kourion page.
Swimming safely
Currents and waves can be strong, so follow warning signs and swim in the marked areas. The published lifeguard months do not mean there is a lifeguard every day or all day. Check the flag or the sign at the beach.
The season in the sea runs longer than the lifeguard season. Historic average sea temperatures at Limassol, from an older tourism table, range from 15.1 ยฐC in January to 25.5 ยฐC in August. Use them only as a guide. For air temperatures and rain by month, see best time to visit. A popular jumping spot at the Cape Greco sea caves was fenced off in 2026, and cliff jumping there is not a safe activity.
