The castle and the old harbour
Limassol Castle houses the Cyprus Medieval Museum. It stands at Richardou and Berengarias, next to the old harbour. The collection includes medieval ceramics, tombstones, weapons, crosses and coins.
Entry is โฌ4.50. The castle opens at 09:00 on weekdays and at 10:00 on weekends, and it closes at 17:00 every day. These are the museum's own hours. The open-air excavations keep longer hours in summer.
Limassol Marina
The marina operator describes berths, restaurants, shops and residential property as parts of the complex. Check which areas are open to visitors when you arrive.
Limassol also has a waterfront promenade with a jetty and a wooden walkway, as the photos on this page show. It is an easy place for a walk.
Amathous
The archaeological site of Amathous lies 11 km east of the center. It shows the remains of the agora, the public baths and the sanctuary of Aphrodite. Entry is โฌ2.50.
The site is open daily. In October the winter hours apply, 08:30 to 17:00, and in summer the gate stays open until 19:30. It is partly accessible by wheelchair, and accessible toilets are listed. Check locally for a bus connection, or go by car.

City beaches
Dasoudi, in the Germasogeia area, has a strip of woodland behind the beach and a footpath. The sea gets deep fairly quickly. Toilets, showers, bus access and parking are listed.
Miami Beach, at Agios Athanasios, has darker sand and lies next to Dasoudi. A breakwater helps, but waves are still possible in the afternoon. Bus access and parking are listed. Kourion Beach in Episkopi Bay is separate from the archaeological site, with sand and pebbles and lifeguards from April to October. Always follow the warning signs.

Day trips from Limassol
Four ideas for a day out.
Kourion
The site is about 19 km west of Limassol on the road to Paphos. It has a theater, the House of Eustolios, mosaics and an early Christian basilica, and it is only partly accessible. Our Kourion guide has the details.
Petra tou Romiou
The rocks are on the southwest coast, in Paphos district. The birth of Aphrodite from the sea foam is a legend, not a fact. Swim only where signs allow it.
Omodos
The wine village is about 800 m high and 42 km from Limassol. The square, the wine press and the Timios Stavros monastery are in the village.
Kalidonia Trail
The linear trail starts above Platres and follows the Krios Potamos to a waterfall. It is 3 km one way, about 1.5 hours, difficulty 3, and it is not an easy family walk. The upper start is at 1,571 m and the lower end at 1,238 m, so the way back is uphill. British travel advice lists an increased risk of forest fires from April to October. See the Troodos guide.
