Ayia Napa at a glance

Ayia Napa lies in the southeast of Cyprus, beside Cape Greco National Forest Park. The town is built around sandy bays, restaurants and hotels. Protaras, with Fig Tree Bay, is the neighboring resort.

Most of what you will want to do here is outdoors: swimming, walking on the headland and boat trips. The sections below cover the beaches first, then Cape Greco, then buses and where to stay. Prices are the published ones, as of October 2026.

Lifeguard months are published seasons, not a promise of cover every day. Obey warning signs and swim in the marked areas, because currents and waves are possible. Ask on site whether the Seatrac at Vathia Gonia is in use that day. For the full island list, see our Cyprus beaches guide.

Nissi Beach

Nissi Beach is 600 m long and has a small island just offshore. The tourism portal lists sunbeds, umbrellas, water sports and parking. Hotels and restaurants stand close by, and the page also mentions music and beach events.

That mix suits a lively beach day. It also means a hotel near Nissi cannot be promised to be quiet at night, so ask about noise when you book. For a different setting, Landa has a coastal footpath and Makronisos has several sandy coves.

Cape Greco

Cape Greco is a National Forest Park of 385 hectares in the southeast of the island and part of the Natura network. It is a place for a walk along the coast, not a beach resort. Check the current opening times and any access rules before you go. British travel advice also lists an increased risk of forest fires from April to October, so take care with fire and follow any local restrictions.

The sea caves need a clear warning. A press report from 18 July 2026 says a popular jumping spot was fenced off in May because of injuries, rescue risks and signs of unstable rock. No date for removing the fence was given. Do not jump into the water here, do not climb past fences and treat any fenced area as closed.

Konnos Bay is a sandy cove between the cape and Protaras. The Blue Lagoon boat trips are a different place: they leave from Latchi on the Akamas side, far from Ayia Napa. See our Blue Lagoon guide.

Traffic drives on the left. Rental prices depend on the car, the period and the extras. The deposit, minimum age and excess depend on your contract.

Where to stay

Two areas stand out on the beach pages.

Ayia Napa and Nissi

Hotels and restaurants cluster around the bay, and the beach hosts music and events. It is the lively option. See where to stay in Cyprus for the other regions.

Protaras and Fig Tree Bay

Accommodation and restaurants surround the bay, and the beach has a parking lot and a beach wheelchair. It is the base for visits to Konnos Bay and Cape Greco.
